RIBA Elections 2020

Voting for this year’s Presidential and Council elections is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part. All votes will now be counted and verified. The results will be published on Tuesday 11 August.

The online, member-only hustings took place on 7 July, and the online, Student and Associate member-only hustings took place on 9 July. Watch each of the five candidates vying to become the next RIBA President take part in the virtual live Q&As. See the full list of candidates below.

RIBA Presidency

There were five candidates for the role of RIBA Presidency:

  • Simon Allford
  • Jude Barber
  • Nick Moss
  • Valeria Passetti
  • Sumita Singha

RSAW Presidency

There was one candidate for the role of RSAW Presidency, therefore Gavin Traylor is elected unopposed.

National Council Member Seats

The successful candidates will serve on the RIBA Council for a 3 year term beginning on 1 September 2020.

There were ten candidates for two available seats:

RIBA Wessex

There was one candidate for this seat. Yuli Cadney-Toh is elected unopposed.

RIBA East

There was one candidate for this seat. Roger Shrimplin is elected unopposed.

RIBA West Midlands

There was one candidate for this seat. Philip Twiss is elected unopposed.

RIAS South

There were no candidates for this seat, therefore the seat remains vacant.

International Council Member Seats

Europe (excluding the UK)

There was one candidate for this seat. Tim Clark is elected unopposed.

The Americas

There were two candidates for one available seat:

  • Catherine Davis
  • Thierry Paret

Asia and Australasia

There were three candidates for one available seat:

  • Nela de Zoysa
  • Ken Wai
  • Roger Tsan-Sum Wu

The Middle East & Africa

There was one candidate for this seat. Alice Asafu-Adjaye is elected unopposed.

Associate Member Seat

There were no candidates for this seat therefore the seat remains vacant.

The RIBA Council is formed of members for members. Council members take an active role and contribute to the future of our profession.
